.: You Can't Trust Me :.

I've been rewatching Red vs Blue and experiencing the new stuff for the first time, so I'm on a bit of a kick.

This idea popped into my head during the episode where it became apparent Agent Carolina had a thing for York and regret never telling him. What if he had a braver day where he jokingly, flirtingly, gave her this vintage Earth shirt? She'd of course balk, and never wear it. But she wouldn't throw it away either. After his death, though, she'd take to wearing it to sleep every night.

Edit - I found a short drabble I wrote about this shortly after making this:

Carolina was woke by Tucker and Wash bickering as they barged into her bunk. Great. Apparently today’s catastrophe couldn’t wait until after she got a full night’s sleep. She turned to affix them with a glare befitting the occasion when both sets of eyes dropped directly to her chest, their argument halted mid-word.

From Tucker’s expression it was obvious he was staring right through her vintage Earth tee, now thread-bare from nightly wear. No surprise there. Wash, however, looked as though someone punched him in the chest. When his eyes snapped back up to hers they were filled with empathy, regret… too many sappy emotions for a guy who killed people for a living. Clearly the shirt’s faded screen print caught his attention.


Wash’s sad stare left her feeling far more naked than Tucker’s hopeless gawking, but she couldn’t decide which soldier she was more pissed off at. So she got up, knocked both their heads together, and stormed past them after her armor to handle whatever fresh hell led them to this awkward situation to begin with.

The only reference I used was for the I <3 NY shirt design, so anatomy flaws are quite probable. I wanted to play around with lighting and semi-transparent, backlit fabric. I think I was partially successful. I've also been trying to include more "human flaw" in my digital work. Here, I kept my rough sketches and lineart in at low opacity. I probably could have left it a little louder, but hey. baby steps.

Still, even though it's not what I was going for I like the end result.
